Job Overview

The Laboratory Assistant will support the efficient functioning of the Quality Control laboratory by performing routine activities related to inventory management, sample preparation, and documentation. This role ensures that the laboratory adheres to GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards and supports a compliant and organized environment.


Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Inventory and Supply Management

  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory to ensure uninterrupted operations, including proper labeling of chemicals and reagents.
  • Manage the reference standards system and handle all ordering for the Quality Control department.
  • Receive and track ordered supplies to ensure accurate and timely inventory.

Sample Handling and Documentation

  • Prepare documentation and chemicals for shipment to third-party laboratories and customers.
  • Sample raw materials and packaging components upon receipt, organizing and storing samples in compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure proper organization of QC lab documents, including qualification, calibration, and validation records.

Lab Maintenance and Compliance

  • Clean and maintain laboratory workstations, equipment, and the retain room to ensure a safe, compliant environment.
  • Handle retain sample management and proper maintenance of GMP documentation for all applicable activities.
  • Perform instrument calibration when necessary and manage gas cylinder change-outs.
  • Follow SOPs and maintain accurate documentation during work to ensure compliance, particularly for audit preparation.

Continuous Improvement and Reporting

  • Assist with continuous improvement projects within the lab.
  • Write data summary reports to ensure clear and effective communication of findings.
  • Work in strict adherence to GMP guidelines and ensure all activities are compliant.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; associate’s degree in a scientific field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 0 to 3 years of experience in a GMP laboratory setting.
    • Strong communication skills and proficiency in computer use.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently.
