Position Overview:

The Medical Editor role within Medical Affairs Quality focuses on reviewing and editing both promotional and medical (non-promotional) materials across different therapeutic areas. This role ensures that all content adheres to Lilly's quality standards, including Customer Information Quality (CIQ) and Medical Content Approval (MCA) requirements. The Medical Editor will work with cross-functional teams, apply style guides and templates, and utilize various tools to streamline the review and approval process.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Content Editing & Review:

    • Copyedit promotional and medical materials, ensuring they align with CIQ and MCA guidelines.

    • Collaborate with Marketing, Medical, and other teams during the review and approval process.

    • Ensure consistency in language, style, and accuracy across materials.

    • Proofread content for grammar, spelling, style, and clarity, addressing logic and flow issues.

    • Review reference lists to ensure compliance with style guides (AMA Manual of Style, brand style).

  2. Process Management:

    • Use project management tools (e.g., Veeva Vault, Wrike) to track and manage the review process efficiently.

    • Ensure materials are reviewed and approved on time while adhering to organizational standards.

    • Collaborate with CIQ/MCA teams to manage deviations and ensure compliance.

  3. Quality Assurance:

    • Maintain Lilly’s high-quality standards throughout the review process, ensuring content integrity and compliance.

    • Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency in content review.

    • Foster collaboration and shared learning across teams to resolve challenges and establish best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Required:

    • 2-4 years of experience in editing, copyediting, or proofreading medical or promotional content within publishing, marketing, or the pharmaceutical industry.

    • Familiarity with various style guides (e.g., AMA Manual of Style, Chicago Manual of Style).

    • Strong understanding of scientific/medical terminology.

    • Demonstrated initiative, collaboration, and decision-making within cross-functional teams.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.

  • Additional Preferences:

    • Familiarity with the US CIQ/MCA framework and tools such as Veeva Vault, Wrike, or MS Project.

    • Experience in reviewing/writing Medical Affairs communications (e.g., slide decks, patient/HCP materials).

    • Knowledge in therapeutic areas such as neuroscience, oncology, cardiovascular, immunology, or endocrinology.


Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a scientific, health, communications, or technology-related field.
