Position Overview: The Medical Affairs Specialist is a pivotal role focused on providing scientific expertise and leadership across a variety of functions. From addressing the scientific information needs of local and regional customers to supporting clinical trials, regulatory activities, and global strategy, you will drive medical solutions that enhance product development, improve patient outcomes, and contribute to the success of Lilly’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Business/Customer Support

    • Anticipate and address the scientific information needs of local and regional customers (payers, patients, healthcare providers) by conducting data analyses and new clinical research.
    • Contribute to the development of medical strategies supporting brand commercialization by collaborating with global Medical Affairs, brand teams, Global Patient Outcomes/Real World Evidence, and cross-functional teams to develop the local business plan.
  2. Scientific Data Dissemination/Exchange

    • Ensure compliance with local laws and global policies related to data dissemination and interactions with healthcare professionals.
    • Respond to unsolicited scientific information requests from healthcare professionals according to relevant guidelines.
    • Support medical information associates in preparing and reviewing medical letters and other materials.
    • Build and maintain relationships with scientific experts, thought leaders, and the broader medical community at local, national, and international levels.
  3. Clinical Planning & Clinical Research/Trial Execution

    • Represent country/region clinical needs in the development of strategies, plans, and study protocol designs.
    • Review and approve informed consent documents and risk profiles for local clinical trials.
    • Collaborate with clinical research staff to design, conduct, and report on local trials, ensuring timely execution.
  4. Regulatory Support Activities

    • Participate in the development and review of local labeling and modifications in collaboration with global teams, regulatory bodies, and legal departments.
    • Provide medical expertise to regulatory scientists and participate in advisory committees.
  5. Scientific Technical Expertise

    • Stay informed about current trends and future projections in clinical practice and access within the relevant therapeutic areas.
    • Critically evaluate medical literature, competitive products, and ongoing scientific developments related to Lilly's products.
    • Act as a scientific consultant and protocol expert for clinical teams and other medical professionals.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy with board eligibility or certification in an appropriate specialty.
  • Medical school education meeting the Liaison Committee on Medical Education requirements.
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of the drug development process within the relevant country or region preferred.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to influence and create a positive, collaborative working environment.
