Job Summary: The Medical Affairs Professional (MAP) is a therapeutically aligned Clinical Scientist who plays a key role within the Medical Affairs team. This individual’s expertise in specific disease states, available treatments, and investigational compounds helps drive strategic thinking and life cycle planning. The MAP also plays an important leadership role in collaborating with the Brand team to meet both external customer and internal business needs. They ensure all medical activities align with local and international regulations, company standards, and Lilly's functional vision.

Main Accountability/Responsibility:

  1. Scientific Expertise and Medical Affairs Delivery:

    • Develop and contribute to the affiliate/therapeutic area medical plan and strategy alongside CRP.
    • Lead data analysis and contribute to scientific publications (abstracts, posters, manuscripts).
    • Collaborate with other Medical Affairs roles (CRP, CRS, MSL) to ensure seamless delivery of customer experiences through medical education.
    • Collect insights on disease areas related to patient journeys, treatment patterns, and unmet needs.
    • Support CRP in executing data generation plans aligned with affiliate business needs.
    • Contribute to medical information letter creation and scientific data disclosure (SDD).
  2. Cross-Functional Team Collaboration:

    • Serve as a key medical point of contact for cross-functional teams, including the brand team.
    • Provide clinical, scientific, and strategic input to support medical launch and brand plan development.
    • Offer scientific input for the development and review of promotional materials.
    • Support internal business partner training and oversee customer insights to proactively address challenges.
    • Lead planning and implementation of symposia, advisory boards, and educational meetings with healthcare professionals (HCPs).
    • Collaborate with external consultants and alliance partners.
  3. Customer Engagement & Experience:

    • Respond to external customer inquiries and escalate issues as necessary.
    • Coordinate engagement with Thought Leaders and deliver speaker training.
    • Maintain relationships with professional societies and support educational meetings.
    • Collaborate to improve customer engagement through digital innovations.
    • Lead efforts to ensure positive customer experiences within the medical function.
  4. Collaboration with Regulatory:

    • Participate in local labeling development and modification in collaboration with CRP and global teams.
    • Provide medical expertise to regulatory teams and assist in regulatory report preparation.
    • Contribute to regulatory meetings and support local registration efforts.
    • Collaborate with risk management planning alongside Global Patient Safety (GPS).
  5. Professional Development:

    • Stay updated on professional training and ensure completion of myPM objectives.
    • Adhere to company policies and procedures.

  • Internal: Marketing, Clinical Research Physicians, Regional/Global Medical Teams, Local Medical Teams, Local Regulatory & Clinical Teams
  • External: Scientific Experts, Physicians/HCPs, Medical Societies

Qualifications, Knowledge, Experience, and Skills:

Educational Qualification:

  • Core: Degree in medicine or allied field (MBBS, or PhD in a medically related field)
  • Desired: Doctor of Medicine (MD) in clinical or non-clinical subjects

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Core: 2+ years industry experience in a relevant therapeutic area, ability to anticipate customer needs and manage customer relationships, proven cross-functional collaboration experience, knowledge of business acumen and contribution.
  • Desired: 2-3 years of clinical practice experience.

Skills:

  • Core: Strong leadership and relationship-building skills, ability to manage a high workload, translate complex scientific data into clear customer communications, and anticipate and resolve complex issues.
  • High learning agility, excellent command of the English language, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Other Role Requirements:

  • Core: May require domestic and international travel, field days, and evening/weekend work.
