This position is within the pharmacy department, focused on ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient drug therapy. Key responsibilities include preparing and distributing medications per federal and state laws, providing patient counseling and education, advising medical and nursing staff on drug therapy, and maintaining an appropriate drug inventory. You will also participate in quality improvement activities, directly impacting patient healthcare.

Key Essential Functions:

  • Review all prescriptions for appropriateness, legality, completeness, contraindications, interactions, allergies, and adverse reactions.
  • Provide clinical consultations, document clinical activities accurately, and enter prescriptions into pharmacy software.
  • Verify finished prescription orders promptly while maintaining required documentation.
  • Advise patients on their medications, ensuring they understand their use and expected outcomes.
  • Conduct chart reviews for prescription refills and medication therapy management, and write recommendations for providers.
  • Direct pharmacy support personnel and serve as a role model for pharmacy students and technicians.
  • Participate in quality control and improvement activities within the department and clinic.
  • Engage in health promotion and disease prevention activities related to drug use.

Compensation:

  • $10K Relocation Assistance for Qualified Hires
  • $10K Annual Geographic Differential Pay on top of Base Salary

Education, Certifications, and Licenses Required:

  • Pharm.D. degree and licensure as a registered pharmacist.
  • Candidates licensed prior to 2003 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree will be considered if they have 3 years of hospital or ambulatory clinic pharmacy experience.
  • An unrestricted license as a registered pharmacist in any state.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (may be obtained within 1 year of hire).
  • Completion of a nationally recognized pharmacy residency program (ASHP accredited) is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in reviewing patient medical histories, lab results, and medication orders.
  • Knowledgeable about state and federal pharmacy laws.
  • Able to communicate effectively with patients and staff, both orally and in writing.
  • Competent in computer applications and possess strong math skills for accurate drug dosage calculations.
  • Capable of independent work, prioritizing tasks, making critical decisions, and responding quickly to emergencies.
