About the Job:

Innova Solutions is seeking an experienced Inpatient/Outpatient Coder to join our team. This remote position is responsible for coding audits, ensuring accuracy in medical diagnoses and procedure codes submitted on provider claims. As part of the role, you will collaborate with providers and staff to enhance coding practices and support the quality of documentation.


Position Overview:

As an Inpatient/Outpatient Coder, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting Coding Audits: Review medical records to ensure accuracy of coding, medical necessity, and compliance with CMS coding guidelines.
  • Provider Education: Develop and deliver coding education programs for providers and practice staff, identifying trends and inconsistencies in documentation practices.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Assist in reviewing and analyzing data to track coding quality, and generate reports for continuous improvement.
  • Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to implement changes and improvements to coding practices and system processes.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate degree required.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of healthcare experience in a physician group practice or ambulatory care setting preferred.
  • Coding Experience: At least 1 year of medical coding experience, with a demonstrated track record of sustained coding quality.
  • Knowledge:
    • Advanced knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT/HCPCS, and revenue code procedures.
    • Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient coding systems (APR-DRG/MSDRG, APC/APG).
    • Understanding of claims processing for private and government insurance.
  • Certifications:
    • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Strong ability to research coding guidelines, compliance requirements, and reporting standards.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to identify trends and areas of improvement in coding practices.
  • Ability to communicate complex coding principles to providers and staff in a clear and understandable manner.

  • Salary: $75,000 annually (based on experience, education, and location)
