Job Title: Hematology/Oncology Operations Supervisor
Facility: Dayton Children’s – Main Campus
Department: Clinical Pharmacy
Schedule: Full-Time (40 hours per week)


Job Summary

The Hematology/Oncology Operations Supervisor is primarily responsible for overseeing the preparation, storage, and handling of hazardous medications, ensuring compliance with USP 800 standards, professional practices, and legal regulations. This position supervises pharmacy personnel, ensuring adequate training and competency in medication preparation processes.

In addition to serving as the pharmacy department’s USP 800 Designee, the Supervisor oversees hazardous medication handling across the Dayton Children’s organization and ensures compliance with relevant guidelines.

This role also includes the provision of pharmaceutical care to oncology patients in inpatient and outpatient settings, acting as an expert consultant in oncology, supportive care, and symptom management. The Supervisor collaborates with inpatient pharmacy staff, Hematology/Oncology clinical teams, and pharmacists to deliver optimal, safe patient care.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee preparation, handling, and storage of hazardous medications in compliance with USP 800 standards.
  • Ensure pharmacy staff are adequately trained and maintain competency in hazardous medication preparation processes.
  • Act as the USP 800 Designee to ensure organizational compliance with USP 800 regulations.
  • Provide pharmaceutical care for oncology patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
  • Collaborate with Hematology/Oncology staff, clinical pharmacists, and inpatient pharmacy teams to optimize patient care.
  • Serve as an expert consultant for oncology and supportive care/symptom management within the organization.

Education Requirements

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD)

Certification/Licensure Requirements

  • Required:
    • RPh Ohio: Registered Pharmacist license issued by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy

Department-Specific Requirements

  • Expertise in hazardous medication handling and compliance with USP 800 regulations.
  • Strong knowledge of oncology pharmacy practices and pharmaceutical care.
