Summary:

The Head of Medical Excellence and Operations will be responsible for driving medical excellence and assessing the quality of execution of medical strategic plans. This role ensures launch readiness for key medicines, including resource deployment, tools, and key processes while leading the local Field Medical team and aligning strategies with Regional & Global Field Medical Excellence groups.

Key Responsibilities:

Medical Excellence & Capability Building:

  • Lead capability building across the medical organization.
  • Deploy global tools, systems, and field medical metric tracking.
  • Nurture an inspired field medical community aligned with Novartis culture.

Organizational Alignment & Strategy Implementation:

  • Establish an effective, customer-oriented, and patient-centric medical organization.
  • Implement high-quality, standardized medical processes.
  • Guide coaching processes, tools, and training for managers and medical associates.
  • Oversee local insights gathering, engagement strategies, and execution.
  • Ensure local implementation of training curriculums, onboarding, and individual development plans.
  • Define standardized KPIs, tracking, and reporting for the medical teams.

Launch Readiness & Innovation:

  • Drive the launch excellence model/framework for APMA medical teams.
  • Identify and implement new digital trends related to medical activities.
  • Establish a best practice-sharing platform for country initiatives.

Operational & Project Management:

  • Oversee key medical projects and activities in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Promote a "ONE Team" approach across functions to prioritize patients, payers, and customers.

Field Medical Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, manage, and implement a local Field Medical organization (>3 MSL managers).
  • Ensure individual development plans and career paths for medical associates.
  • Align local MSL plans with Regional/Global strategies.
  • Utilize regional/local insights to shape the local MSL strategy.

Performance & Compliance:

  • Accountable for performance management, evaluation, and talent review for the local FME team.
  • Plan and execute MSL manager/MSL training in collaboration with Field Medical Excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with medical affairs processes and integrity policies.

Role Requirements:

Essential Qualifications:

  • MD or higher degree in a relevant field.
  • Fluent English (spoken & written).
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in Medical Affairs or Development.
  • Proven expertise in developing strategic capabilities at country/regional levels.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and field medical management experience.
  • Business mindset with innovative and critical thinking.
  • Deep understanding of ethical guidelines in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
