Position Overview:

We are seeking a Freelance Health Care Business Writer to provide writing, drafting, and editing services for various reports, proposals, and business documents. This role will support our Program Solutions division and consulting teams and include the creation of documents such as Center of Innovation reports, Quality Reports, Request for Proposals (RFPs), grant proposals, and White Papers. The writer will also help develop and maintain a Style Manual and report templates, supporting all business writing needs across the organization.

This is a remote opportunity, allowing you to work from anywhere in the US.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content Creation: Write, edit, and proofread high-quality, scientifically accurate documents under tight deadlines, ensuring consistency and adherence to style guidelines.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with leadership, program staff, business development teams, researchers, project managers, and consultants to develop and refine content.
  • Document Review & Editing: Review and edit internal and external documents, ensuring clarity, quality, and consistency.
  • Project Management: Manage timelines, coordinate drafts, and ensure timely completion of documents. Communicate with team members to maintain awareness of deadlines and expectations.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all documents undergo a quality check before approval, ensuring consistency and accuracy across related materials.
  • Risk Identification: Proactively identify potential issues that could impact the success of the documents and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist in the development and maintenance of a Style Manual and document templates to ensure consistent writing quality across all materials.

Who You Are:

  • A confident and effective communicator, with strong attention to detail and quality.
  • A self-starter who demonstrates initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Able to remain calm and assertive in challenging situations and facilitate the creation of high-quality content.
  • Capable of evaluating risks and potential issues and collaborating with leadership and team members to develop solutions.
  • Proactive and able to prioritize tasks effectively to meet tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in writing and editing, ideally in a healthcare, quality, or Program Integrity setting.
  • Expertise in grammar, syntax, punctuation, and sentence structure.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working with content experts to develop and refine content.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to analyze, synthesize, and present complex information in clear, accurate documents.
  • Familiarity with healthcare systems, clinical research, and medical terminology is a plus.
