Job Overview

Fortrea is seeking a Payroll Specialist (EMEA) to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of payroll across multiple countries in the EMEA region. This includes collaborating with key stakeholders, ensuring compliance with local regulations, and maintaining payroll accuracy for employees in assigned countries.


Summary of Responsibilities

  1. Payroll Processing:
    Partner with external Local Payroll Bureaus and various stakeholders (HR, Finance, Country Leads, etc.) to ensure the timely and accurate processing of monthly payrolls, year-end reporting, and submissions for assigned countries. (10%)

  2. Payroll Data Management:
    Collect, format, and send payroll-related data to payroll bureaus, adhering to the payroll calendar deadlines. (20%)

  3. Payroll Validation:
    Validate payroll output for assigned countries and perform peer validation of final payrolls within the team. (25%)

  4. Cash Funding Forecast:
    Provide monthly Cash Funding Forecasts to the IAS Accounting and Treasury departments to ensure relevant bank accounts are funded for payroll payments. Collaborate with the Accounting team for payment approvals and releases. Ensure distribution of payslips by local payroll bureaus. (5%)

  5. Query Management:
    Serve as the first point of contact for payroll-related queries from employees and the HR Service Delivery team. Collaborate with HR, payroll vendors, and other departments to resolve issues in a timely manner. (10%)

  6. Payroll Reporting:
    Prepare monthly Payroll Journals and Gross to Net reports for the IAS Accounting department and provide support for related finance queries. (5%)

  7. Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs):
    Maintain and update payroll SOPs to ensure clear guidelines are in place for processing payroll in assigned countries. (5%)

  8. Payroll Metrics:
    Complete monthly payroll metrics and assist the Team Leader or Senior Payroll Specialist in creating ad hoc communications to employees, ensuring awareness of transitions or payroll-related changes. (5%)

  9. Compliance & Taxation:
    Work closely with local payroll providers, Country Leads, and HR to ensure local compliance with payroll, employment taxes, and government filings, ensuring timely submissions. (10%)

  10. Audit Support:
    Assist with internal and external audits and support SOX controls for payroll-related processes. (5%)


Qualifications (Minimum Required)

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field.

Experience (Minimum Required)

  • 3+ years of experience in EMEA payroll processing, with a strong understanding of regional payroll regulations and practices.
  • Experience in payroll data management, validation, and reporting for large, multi-country payroll operations.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems, accounting systems, and HR platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional qualifications or certifications in Payroll or Finance (e.g., CIPP or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of local tax laws and employment regulations across EMEA regions.

Physical Demands / Work Environment

  • Minimal travel required (less than 10%) for occasional face-to-face meetings with stakeholders, audits, or business reviews.
