The Position

As a member of the Field Medical Affairs (FMA) team, you will act as a scientific liaison, demonstrating the clinical benefits of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI) products to healthcare professionals (HCPs) and stakeholders. You will be responsible for educating HCPs, developing key relationships, coordinating medical forums, and identifying potential clinical trial sites. You will also work collaboratively with internal teams such as Sales, Marketing, and Clinical Operations to ensure the effective execution of medical strategies.

This field-based role will require significant travel, as well as the ability to manage multiple accounts and medical initiatives within a designated territory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Medical and Scientific Support: Provide advanced medical and scientific field support to Sales, Marketing, and Managed Care teams by leveraging your scientific expertise to communicate with healthcare providers, organized healthcare accounts, and other stakeholders.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and maintain regional and account-specific medical plans, in collaboration with the Field Director. Adapt plans based on customer needs and feedback.
  • Advocacy & Relationship Development: Attend medical meetings, develop relationships with KOLs, academic institutions, and healthcare providers, and ensure appropriate utilization of NNI products.
  • Clinical Trial Support: Collaborate with clinical operations to identify and manage study sites, facilitating trial initiation and recruitment efforts. Ensure investigators are properly trained and that study milestones are met.
  • Collaboration Across Teams: Work closely with the HEOR (Health Economics & Outcomes Research) team to deliver value propositions for NNI’s products. Provide scientific insights to inform internal product and marketing strategies.
  • Education & Presentations: Provide tailored clinical education to key stakeholders, including physicians, formulary decision-makers, and medical directors, to support the proper use and access to NNI products.

Physical Requirements

  • 50-75% overnight travel required; position is field-based
  • Territory includes Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina (50 miles from the border)
  • Valid driver’s license required; must be in good standing with no excessive violations as determined by the Novo Nordisk motor vehicle records review.

Qualifications

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Doctoral degree (MD, PharmD, Ph.D.)
  • Experience: At least 2 years in a healthcare-related system, pharmaceutical company, or managed care environment. Extensive experience in Hematology is required; Sickle Cell experience preferred.
  • Clinical and Therapeutic Expertise: Knowledge of clinical therapeutic areas, with an emphasis on hematology, is essential.
  • Business Acumen: Experience in formulary processes, decision-making, and building strategic relationships.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex scientific data clearly and persuasively to internal and external stakeholders.
