Job Description:

The Executive Director, Clinical Trial Supplies and Logistics (CTS&L), Worldwide PLD is a senior leadership role responsible for global strategy, clinical trial supply solutions, team development, operational leadership, client management, and financial oversight across Clinical Trial Supply Packaging, Labeling, and Distribution (PLD).


Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership:

  • Build and develop a skilled, high-performing global PLD team.

  • Line manage team members and foster their growth and development.

  • Establish consistent global work practices and mentoring frameworks.

Business & Operational Leadership:

  • Drive business growth: NBA, revenue, and profit increases.

  • Oversee global PLD profit & loss.

  • Lead operational excellence and lean initiatives.

  • Develop global KPIs/metrics and manage budget/forecasting.

  • Ensure global cGxP readiness and compliance.

  • Act as executive oversight on key strategic projects.

  • Align closely with the Global Head of Clinical Trial Supply and other departments.

Client Relationship & Strategic Development:

  • Lead client-focused initiatives and contribute to project bids and client presentations.

  • Promote integrated service offerings and value propositions.

  • Support client acquisition and market expansion strategies.

Quality Control & Technical Support:

  • Lead and ensure alignment with quality management and regulatory compliance (cGxP).

  • Provide technical guidance to PLD teams and management.

  • Manage SOPs, CAPAs, quality audits, training needs, and compliance documentation.

Financial Oversight:

  • Deliver accurate forecasting and resource allocation.

  • Lead cost control, pricing strategies, and margin growth.


Required Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong strategic planning, leadership, and operational management.

  • Experience with mergers, acquisitions, and change management.

  • Proven client management and commercial selling skills.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Financial management including budgeting, P&L, and cost optimization.

  • Advanced knowledge of CTS processes, regulatory frameworks (FDA, cGMP), and PLD operations.

  • Ability to lead in a matrixed, global business environment.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with quality systems and databases.


Knowledge & Experience:

  • Minimum 20+ years of clinical trial supply management, including:

    • Packaging, labeling, distribution, manufacturing of IP

    • At least 15+ years in a leadership role

    • Direct experience in strategic planning and execution

    • Client relationship development, KPI implementation, and global quality systems

    • P&L management, staffing, and global team building

    • Operational excellence and CTS process innovation


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Finance, Engineering, Logistics, Scientific Discipline, or Business Administration

  • MBA or professional designation preferred
