How You’ll Spend Your Day

  • Identify and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements applicable to the site.
  • Prepare and update the compliance calendar for the site and submit periodic reports.
  • Implement the Process Safety Management system effectively in all process areas.
  • Conduct process risk analysis through HAZOPs for new processes and products throughout their life cycles.
  • Perform Job Safety Analysis, safety audits, and surveys in various plant areas.
  • Manage changes at the site stringently, promoting continuous employee awareness of EHS aspects during any changes.
  • Ensure best industrial hygiene practices are followed, conducting qualitative and quantitative exposure analysis for site activities.
  • Analyze accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes, suggest remedial measures, and monitor the completion of corrective actions.
  • Prepare procedures/SOPs for the Safety Management System in line with global standards.
  • Formulate guidelines for the safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals/materials.
  • Ensure the healthiness of fire protection systems and emergency equipment for all potential hazards.
  • Prepare and update the site emergency plan regularly.
  • Conduct firefighting and emergency plan training for all employees.
  • Conduct pre-startup safety reviews at the facility.
  • Guide a team of safety professionals toward excellence in EHS performance.
  • Prepare HAZMAT and mock drill procedures, conducting periodic drills in the plant.
  • Create a site PPE matrix, selecting and providing proper PPE and emergency safety equipment for employees.
  • Monitor workplaces to identify hazards and suggest remedial measures.
  • Identify training needs for the site and implement a training calendar for employees and contractors.
  • Drive contractor safety management on-site, reviewing safety performance of contract employees and identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Implement the work permit and LOTO systems in the plant.
  • Maintain the area risk register and ensure risk control measures are implemented.
  • Monitor the performance of the waste treatment and management facility.

Your Experience and Qualifications

  • B.E./Diploma in Chemical Engineering, M.Sc. Chemistry, or B.Sc. Chemistry + Diploma in Industrial Safety
  • 12-15 years of relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of EHS statutory requirements, process safety, safety procedures, industrial hygiene, and GMP
  • Effective trainer
