Position Summary

Eli Lilly is seeking a Director of Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) to lead a group of computational scientists supporting drug discovery and development efforts. This position involves supervising a team of scientists, providing scientific leadership, and implementing model-informed drug discovery strategies to identify the right target, molecule, dose, and patient population. The successful candidate will contribute to the advancement of QSP approaches and lead cross-functional teams in drug development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a group of QSP scientists, managing performance, resource allocation, and staff development.

  • Provide scientific leadership to project teams in drug discovery and development, focusing on target selection, molecule development, dosing strategies, and patient population.

  • Develop and implement modeling strategies to guide decisions during drug discovery and clinical development.

  • Collaborate with teams to develop platform models and modeling workflows applicable across multiple projects and phases.

  • Communicate quantitative data internally and externally to the scientific community.

  • Foster innovation in QSP and modeling methodologies to advance Lilly’s drug development pipeline.

Education Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Engineering, Biology, Computational Sciences, Mathematics, Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics, or a related field with 5+ years of relevant work experience in quantitative systems pharmacology modeling (QSP).

  • Master’s degree with 10+ years of industry experience and demonstrated impact (e.g., publications).

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Expertise in QSP model-informed approaches for drug discovery and development.

  • Proficiency in mathematical modeling workflows using software such as R, Matlab, Python.

  • Experience with immunology, cardiometabolic health, neuroscience, or other therapeutic areas is a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, with experience working cross-functionally and managing teams.

  • Excellent organizational and self-management skills.

Compensation

  • Anticipated Salary Range: $168,000 – $294,800 annually.

  • Eligible for company bonus program (based on company and individual performance).
