Position Summary

Eli Lilly is seeking a highly motivated Director to lead its growing Psychiatric and Pain and Neuronal Health Group in Indianapolis. The ideal candidate will be a critical thinker with a solid background in Neuroscience and experience in leading laboratory teams to provide robust decision-making data for developing novel medicines in neurological and psychiatric disorders. This position requires strong leadership in preclinical drug development, cross-functional collaboration, and effective communication across Lilly's global research sites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of laboratory neuroscientists and lead cross-functional teams in the preclinical drug development phase.

  • Present scientific data and conclusions to leadership and decision-makers.

  • Develop and implement innovative approaches to add capabilities for insights into psychiatric and neurological diseases, compound target engagement, and pharmacodynamics.

  • Utilize statistical analysis and data visualization software to support research.

Education Requirements

  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Neurophysiology, or related field with 7+ years of industry or academic experience.

  • Alternatively, a Master's degree in a related field with 20+ years of industry or academic experience leading a laboratory and discovery projects through preclinical development.

Additional Skills/Preferences

  • Expertise in immunohistochemistry methods, including imaging in tissue and neuronal cultures.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate across teams, both independently and within cross-functional groups.

  • Peer-reviewed publications in Neuroscience research.

  • Experience with Neurodevelopment disorder models and synaptic changes quantification.

  • Strong understanding of pharmacology principles and measures of target engagement.

Compensation

  • Anticipated Salary Range: $144,000 – $250,800 annually.
