Job Title: Comptroller/Director of Finance

Job Overview:

Altesa Biosciences, a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel anti-viral drugs, is seeking a Comptroller/Director of Finance to join its growing team. This is a remote opportunity for candidates based in the metro-Atlanta or DC area. As a key member of the finance team, you will advise the CEO and executive leadership on financial strategy and play a vital role in managing all aspects of the company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and alignment with organizational goals.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Serve as a financial advisor to the CEO and executive team, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
  • Accounting Oversight: Manage all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and tax preparation, in compliance with GAAP.
  • Revenue & Expense Tracking: Develop tracking methods for revenue and expenses to ensure accurate financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Investment Management: Oversee the development, management, and execution of the company’s investment plan.
  • Budget Management: Lead and manage the budgeting process to ensure financial goals and objectives are met.
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting: Gather and analyze financial data related to profits, trends, costs, and compliance; prepare annual, quarterly, and monthly financial reports.
  • Audit & Compliance: Manage insurance coverage for the organization, oversee activities with external auditors, and maintain internal controls to ensure compliance with SEC, SOX, and other financial regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BA/BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Experience: 5-10+ years of experience in a finance function, with prior experience in the biotech/pharma industry.
  • Skills & Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and SOX compliance. Proven experience in financial planning, reporting, and analysis.
