Job Objectives

As a Pharmacist at Walgreens, you'll provide empathetic pharmacy consulting services, ensuring proper medication usage, managing drug interactions, and offering preventive healthcare services, including immunizations and diagnostic testing. You'll support the efficient workflow of the pharmacy while working collaboratively to enhance patient experiences and optimize pharmacy operations.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Experience

  • Greet and assist patients with products and services, ensuring a positive experience.
  • Provide patient consultations on medication management, drug therapy reviews, immunizations, and other wellness services.
  • Resolve patient issues promptly and champion inclusivity, empathy, and excellent customer service.

Pharmacy Operations

  • Counsel patients on medication use, side effects, interactions, and generics, and refer them to medical providers as needed.
  • Perform tasks such as compounding, drug therapy reviews, medication verification, and insurance claim processing.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Manage pharmacy workflow, assign roles, and support inventory management and financial performance analysis.
  • Administer clinical services such as immunizations, diagnostic testing, and disease management.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local healthcare providers and participate in community outreach initiatives.

Team Leadership and Training

  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager in hiring, training, and mentoring staff.
  • Provide feedback, coaching, and motivation to foster team development and ensure excellent service.

Personal and Professional Development

  • Maintain current licensing and certifications as required by state and federal regulations.
  • Stay updated on pharmacy practices and retail trends to implement best practices.
  • Complete necessary education credits, certifications, and training programs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution.
  • Current pharmacist licensure in Oregon (or states within the district).
  • Strong working knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience as a pharmacist in a retail setting.
  • Proficiency in pharmacy operations, software, insurance processing, and compliance.
