Pharmacy Technician/Apprentice

Location: Various Walgreens locations
Salary Range: $16.50–$20/hour

Overview

Walgreens Pharmacy Technician positions have evolved into a patient-centric role, providing direct support to pharmacists and engaging with patients to deliver exceptional care. Whether new to pharmacy or experienced, you'll receive training and resources to grow within the field, culminating in a nationally recognized PTCB certification.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience

Greet and assist customers and patients, ensuring positive experiences.
Model and promote excellent customer service practices among team members.
Develop relationships with key customers to enhance loyalty.

Pharmacy Operations

Assist pharmacists in dispensing medications while adhering to state and federal regulations.
Enter and verify patient and prescription information using Walgreens pharmacy systems.
Help manage workflow, schedule tasks, and maintain inventory.
Report and follow up on prescription errors as part of the Quality Improvement Program.
Handle manual claims for third-party services and complete clerical duties.
Support clinical services, such as labeling patient samples or assisting with Walgreens healthcare clinics.
Collaborate with local medical professionals to build community relationships.
Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment.

Training and Development

Enroll in Walgreens’ "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician Training Program, accredited by ASHP & the Department of Labor.
Complete coursework, training activities, and on-the-job experiences to prepare for PTCB certification.
Stay updated on healthcare and pharmacy advancements through training and continuing education.

Basic Qualifications

Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

Six months of retail experience (preferred).
Prior Walgreens experience (preferred).
Strong math and computer skills.
Knowledge of inventory control practices.
PTCB certification or willingness to earn certification.
