Job Overview:
Amgen is seeking a Clinical Research Sr Medical Scientist to support the design, assessment, and communication of clinical programs related to obesity, diabetes, and metabolic diseases. This role will require collaboration across global teams to integrate scientific, medical, and commercial input into clinical development programs. You will provide clinical and scientific input during clinical trial execution, review data from clinical trials, contribute to safety assessments, and author study-related documents. Additionally, you will have opportunities to interact with regulatory agencies and contribute to the development of key opinion leaders in endocrinology.


Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Program Support:

  • Support clinical program design and execution in alignment with global scientific and medical plans.
  • Provide clinical/scientific input into safety assessments and regulatory interactions.
  • Participate in medical monitoring and provide support to clinical trial sites and investigators.
  • Contribute to authoring and reviewing study-related documents (e.g., protocols, study concept documents).
  • Provide clinical/scientific input into regulatory submissions and support interactions with regulatory agencies.
  • Participate in preparing clinical study reports and contribute to safety narrative reviews.
  • Conduct database analyses to support clinical and commercial objectives.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Develop relationships with key opinion leaders and contribute to scientific presentations at advisory boards and scientific meetings.
  • Collaborate across cross-functional teams to integrate diverse inputs into the clinical program.
  • Identify new clinical research opportunities.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree with 2 years of experience in clinical trials implementation in obesity, diabetes, or metabolic diseases,
    OR
  • Master’s degree with 4 years of experience in obesity, diabetes, or metabolic diseases,
    OR
  • Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience in obesity, diabetes, or metabolic diseases,
    OR
  • Associate’s degree with 10 years of experience in obesity, diabetes, or metabolic diseases.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Accredited residency in Endocrinology, board certified or equivalent with 2+ years of clinical research experience and/or basic science research.
  • MD preferred.
  • Prior research experience in obesity, diabetes, or metabolic diseases.
  • Strong understanding of clinical trial design, biostatistics, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Experience in developing scientific, medical, and practical rationales for clinical research.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and superior judgment in clinical trial implementation.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Annual Salary Range (US): $196,654 - $223,613 (based on experience, skills, and qualifications)
