Join UVA’s Oncology Pharmacy Team

The oncology pharmacy team at UVA is excited to invite an exceptional pharmacist to join our team. We specialize in inpatient malignant hematology, bone marrow transplant (BMT), and cellular therapy, offering a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment.


Position Highlights

  • Multidisciplinary Rounds: Participate in teaching rounds with hematology/oncology teams, including attending oncologists, fellows, medical residents, and pharmacy learners.
  • Chemotherapy and Anti-Cancer Therapy Management:
    • Ownership of preparing, releasing, and coordinating chemotherapy orders for inpatient administration through Beacon.
    • Including high-risk, novel therapies like CAR-T.
  • Supportive Care Plans: Design and implement treatment plans in Beacon for new therapies.
  • Patient/Caregiver Education:
    • Weekday meds-to-beds services with hematology/oncology discharge counseling.
    • Counseling for new chemotherapy and other anti-cancer therapies.
  • Provider and Nursing Education: Oncology-specific pharmacology and therapeutics training.
  • Preceptorship and Mentorship:
    • Mentor PGY2 oncology pharmacy residents, PGY1 pharmacy residents, and pharmacy students.
    • Potential teaching opportunities with VCU School of Pharmacy courses.
  • Committee Participation: Serve on pharmacy department and health system enterprise committees.
  • Quality Improvement and Research: Engage in interdisciplinary initiatives and academic research.
  • Outpatient Infusion Pharmacy: Occasionally rotate to UVA Cancer Center Outpatient Infusion Pharmacy.

Compensation

Hourly Range: $52.46 - $83.94


Minimum Requirements

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s in Pharmacy or PharmD required.
  • Experience:
    • PGY1 residency or equivalent hospital experience (3 years) required.
    • PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy residency or malignant hematology/BMT experience preferred.
  • Licensure:
    • Commonwealth of Virginia State Board of Pharmacy license required.
    • AHA Healthcare Provider BLS certification required.

Physical and Work Environment

  • Job involves sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged periods.
  • Requires typing, attention to detail, and ability to lift/push/pull <20 lbs.
  • Exposure to fumes, chemicals, blood/body fluids, and infectious diseases may occur.
