Job Description: Data Management Specialist

Job Overview
As a Data Management Specialist, you will provide essential data management expertise to support the Clinical Data Management (CDM) team in delivering efficient and high-quality data management solutions that meet client needs. You may also participate in leadership tasks under the guidance of the Data Operations Coordinator (DOC), Data Team Lead (DTL), or Functional Manager.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Data Operations Coordinator (DOC) for one protocol involving fewer than 5 operations staff (excluding Data Entry personnel) or for 15+ moderately complex central laboratory studies.
  • Take on leadership roles in specific data management tasks (e.g., coder, tester, or database designer for technologies requiring minimal programming expertise) with supervision.
  • Act as a backup to a DOC or DTL as required.
  • Perform data review and write/resolve data clarifications.
  • Lead database audit teams.
  • Develop and test databases and create/edit specifications.
  • Conduct testing of programming and perform clinical data coding.
  • Understand and adhere to core operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Achieve assigned objectives while fostering strong communication and collaborative relationships with CDM team members.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Clinical, Biological, or Mathematical Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
  • Skills & Experience:
    • Exposure to medical terminology.
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.
    • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency with computer systems and databases.
    • Ability to work independently, demonstrating initiative in problem resolution.
    • Effective collaboration and relationship-building skills with coworkers, managers, and clients.
