Position: Clinical Coder II

Role Overview:
Syneos Health is seeking an experienced Clinical Coder II to support coding activities in large, multicenter clinical trials. This role requires expertise in medical coding systems, quality checks, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will also have experience in managing data queries, reconciling serious adverse events (SAEs), and leading coding activities within clinical trials.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform coding activities for multicenter, large-scale clinical trials, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Conduct quality checks of coding listings to ensure regulatory and protocol compliance.
  • Utilize coding tools such as Thesaurus Management System (TMS), RAVE Coder, and Inform Central Coding to perform coding and quality checks.
  • Participate in coding setup activities, including user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy of coding-related data during data transfers.
  • Collaborate on SAE reconciliation, query management, and clinical data reviews.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of clinical trial processes, data management, and coding regulatory requirements.
  • Provide leadership for coding activities when needed, ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.

Qualifications:

  • Education: BS/BA degree in Biological Sciences, Healthcare, or Clinical Research preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 3+ years of hands-on medical coding experience.
    • Proficiency in WHODrug coding and regulatory requirements.
    • Familiarity with coding in a variety of clinical data management systems (e.g., TMS, RAVE, Inform Central).
    • Knowledge of clinical trial processes, including SAE reconciliation and query management.
    • Experience in coding setup activities, quality control, and data transfer processes.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with sponsors and cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience working in a matrix-structured organization is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and email systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.
