Role Overview:
The Chemical R&D Scientist is responsible for conducting research, developing innovative chemical technologies, and scaling them from bench to plant-level production. This role involves literature research, patent analysis, raw material sourcing, and ensuring that developed processes are cost-effective and environmentally sustainable. The successful candidate will contribute to the team by offering novel ideas and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Literature Search & Patent Organization: Conduct research on molecules or steps as assigned, and gather relevant patents and research papers from scientific literature.
  • Raw Material Procurement: Organize and source raw materials and chemicals from vendors or internal plants.
  • Technology Development: Develop economically and environmentally viable technologies at the bench scale, ensuring they are commercially scalable.
  • Collaboration with Analytical Team: Work closely with the analytical team to validate and ensure the success of developed technologies.
  • Report Preparation: Prepare safety and other technical reports related to the research and development process.
  • Scaling up Technology: Oversee the upscaling of developed technology at the Kilo Lab, Pilot, or Plant scale, addressing any challenges that arise during the process.
  • Continuous Learning: Enhance personal skills through reading, attending seminars, and participating in technical discussions to stay current in the field.
  • Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all environmental, health, and safety (EHS) regulations and compliance expectations, ensuring processes are safe and sustainable.
  • Contribution to Technical Discussions: Participate in team discussions, offering new ideas and innovative solutions to improve processes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Chemistry or a related field.
  • Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience in chemical research and development, preferably in the pharmaceutical or API industry.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of chemical processes, technology development, and scaling up.
    • Experience with literature search and patent analysis.
    • Familiarity with raw material sourcing and vendor coordination.
    • Strong understanding of environmental and safety regulations.
    • Ability to contribute to technical discussions and propose novel ideas.
