Position Overview:

The PRN Pharmacy Clinical Specialist - Oncology Bone Marrow Transplant is responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapies for patients. This role involves providing pharmaceutical care, supporting quality initiatives, and facilitating policy development. The specialist will also act as a Pharmacist to ensure smooth department operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement treatment guidelines, protocols, formulary changes, and critical pathways.
  • Identify, resolve, and communicate cost-effective medication use issues in collaboration with medical staff.
  • Provide clinical consultation and suggest therapeutic alternatives to practitioners and patients.
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, interactions, and appropriateness.
  • Prepare and present drug reviews, MUE criteria, antibiotic sensitivity reports, adverse drug reaction reports, and pharmacy intervention summaries to the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Preferred five years of clinical oncology experience.
  • Education: Doctorate of Pharmacy (PharmD). PGY1/PGY2 Oncology residency required.
  • Certifications: Licensed Pharmacist in VA. Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist or certification to be obtained within two years of employment.
