Job Opportunity

Boehringer Ingelheim is seeking a Biotherapeutic Intern to join our team in Ridgefield. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture, protein expression, and cell line generation using innovative techniques such as transposase technology. You will also learn to conduct protein expression verification and develop expertise in analytical techniques like SDS-PAGE and Western blotting.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Mammalian Cell Culture: Develop experience with various cell lines including HEK293, CHO, Raji, NK92, and THP1.

  • Protein Expression & Characterization: Gain expertise in SDS-PAGE and Western Blot for expression characterization.

  • Cell Line Generation: Use transposase technology for stable cell line generation, followed by small-scale expression and batch binding purification.

  • Assay Development: Gain experience with cellular assay readouts and analysis.


Requirements

  • Current Student Status: Must be an undergraduate, graduate, or advanced degree student in good academic standing.

  • Academic Enrollment: Must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship.

  • GPA: Overall minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.

  • Credits:

    • Undergraduate: At least 12 credit hours completed.

    • Graduate/Advanced Degree: At least 9 credit hours completed.

  • Field of Study: Must be majoring or minoring in a related field to the internship (e.g., Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology).


Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience with cell biology and cell line work.

  • Some analytical knowledge in cell lines, recombinant proteins, and cellular assays.


Compensation

  • Hourly Rate: $20.00 - $33.00 USD/hour, commensurate with the level of degree program in which the applicant is enrolled.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions.

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
