Job Description:

The Bench Scientist role is a lab-based position requiring expertise in analytical methods, protein biochemistry, and binding assays. The role involves using state-of-the-art technology to analyze biotherapeutic drug interactions with specific proteins in human biological matrices.

Responsibilities:

  • Design protein reagents for binding studies.

  • Perform binding assays with minimal supervision and contribute to method development.

  • Analyze radioactive biological samples using scintillation counting or γ-counter.

  • Potentially train on protein labeling using radioisotopes.

  • Operate, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot binding instruments independently.

  • Analyze binding data and derive binding affinity using relevant software.

  • Handle biological samples, including human and preclinical serum and tissues.

  • Summarize experimental results and prepare technical reports.

Required Skills:

  • Education: BS/MS in Analytical Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, Pharmacology, or related fields. Advanced degrees are a plus.

  • Willingness to work with radioactive materials.

  • Industry experience in biopharma preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle complex instruments to ensure reproducible results.

  • Solid understanding of binding affinities and biochemistry concepts.

  • Fast learner with the ability to operate and maintain instruments after a brief training period.

  • Strong initiative in problem-solving both technically and intellectually.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrix environment.

  • Strong data organization and analysis skills.
