Position Summary

Lilly is seeking a strategic and scientifically grounded leader for the Associate Vice President, Precision Medicine & Diagnostics (PMDx) role within the Oncology Business Unit. The role focuses on leading cross-functional teams spanning medical affairs and commercial functions to drive integrated diagnostic strategies that enable patient identification, diagnostic access, and scientific engagement for the global oncology portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute global PMDx strategy aligned with Oncology brand and portfolio priorities.

  • Act as a subject matter expert in oncology diagnostics and diagnostic commercialization.

  • Lead global innovation readiness and shape the environment for early diagnosis and biomarker testing.

  • Guide development and execution of both medical affairs and commercial deliverables.

Global & Pipeline Strategy

  • Partner across global regions to align PMDx strategies to local healthcare/testing ecosystems.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Biomarkers and Diagnostic Development (CBDD) and R&D for early diagnostic planning and CDx selection.

  • Ensure field insights inform biomarker and diagnostic strategies throughout asset development.

Innovation Readiness & External Collaboration

  • Identify and evaluate emerging diagnostic technologies.

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with diagnostic companies, labs, academic institutions, and health system stakeholders.

  • Partner with access, policy, and advocacy teams for market readiness.

  • Contract with external labs to facilitate triggered brand activities.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and grow a high-performing team across commercial and medical functions.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, open communication, and transparency.

  • Prioritize and optimize field resource deployment for patient identification and precision medicine strategies.

Basic Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree (MD, PhD, or MD/PhD) with deep oncology diagnostic strategy experience.

  • 12+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or diagnostics industries focused on oncology and precision medicine.

  • Proven leadership of cross-functional teams across commercial and medical affairs domains.

  • Expertise in biomarker testing, companion diagnostics (CDx), and patient identification.

  • Strong collaboration, communication, and influence skills.

  • Global experience and understanding of regional healthcare systems preferred.

Additional Preferences

  • Board Certification in Pathology is a plus.

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $238,500 - $349,800 (based on education, experience, skills, and location)

  • Additional Compensation: Eligible for company bonus based on performance
