Role Summary: As the Associate Manager - Hematology, you will supervise a team of laboratory staff and oversee daily laboratory testing operations, ensuring adherence to safety and quality guidelines. You will manage the performance of staff, oversee operational tasks, and contribute to process improvement initiatives. Your leadership will help optimize laboratory workflows, manage resources, and maintain compliance with relevant regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Management:

    • Supervise and guide laboratory staff, ensuring effective and timely delivery of operational activities.
    • Train, mentor, and manage team performance, ensuring staff development.
    • Delegate tasks and oversee daily activities of assigned laboratory groups.
  2. Operational Oversight:

    • Ensure inventory levels of reagents and supplies are maintained, managing budgets effectively.
    • Review laboratory metrics and develop initiatives for process improvements, including cost-saving measures.
    • Act as a backup for daily operations and resolve any operational challenges.
  3. Quality & Safety:

    • Monitor laboratory activities to ensure they meet safety guidelines, fostering accountability.
    • Manage and resolve CAPA (Corrective and Preventative Actions) and quality incidents.
    • Ensure laboratory policies, procedures, and safety standards are followed.
  4. Process Improvement & Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with stakeholders on process improvements and present progress on goals.
    • Implement new tests, equipment, or procedures as necessary and stay updated on technical developments.
    • Participate in employee engagement initiatives to improve customer satisfaction, operational results, and retention.
  5. Regulatory Compliance:

    • Ensure compliance with laboratory regulations, policies, and company procedures.
    • Contribute to the development and revision of laboratory procedures and quality assurance protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific field. Some locations may require a BSc in a laboratory science.
  • Experience: More than 5 years in a regulated environment, with over 4 years in a relevant laboratory discipline.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of hematology testing procedures and regulations.
    • In-depth knowledge of quality assurance and control principles.
    • Ability to train, mentor, and manage teams effectively.
    • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, frequent standing/walking, and occasional exposure to cold temperatures.
