Role Summary:

As an Associate Manager - Hematology, you will supervise a team of laboratory staff and help manage the administration of laboratory testing within applicable regulations governing clinical laboratories. This role focuses on overseeing day-to-day operational activities, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, and supporting process improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Supervision: Lead and mentor a team of laboratory staff to ensure operational delivery is effective and meets objectives.
  • Operational Leadership: Set day-to-day activities, delegate tasks, and monitor performance to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Hiring and Training: Assist with the recruitment, training, and development of laboratory staff to enhance team performance and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Inventory and Budgeting: Monitor inventory of reagents and supplies, ensure adequate levels, and maintain spending within budget.
  • Safety and Quality Assurance: Ensure laboratory activities follow safety guidelines, and hold team members accountable for safety protocols. Manage CAPA (Corrective and Preventative Actions) and quality incidents promptly.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with stakeholders to implement process improvements, present initiatives, and track cost savings from improvements.
  • Policy Compliance: Ensure laboratory practices and policies are followed and assist in revising policies and procedures to maintain compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Foster a unified, collaborative culture that enhances teamwork and the sharing of information. Participate in employee engagement initiatives to boost satisfaction and retention.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Some CAP/CLIA lab locations may require a degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • More than 5 years in a regulated laboratory environment.
    • Over 4 years of experience in hematology or relevant laboratory disciplines.
    • Proven experience in training and mentoring staff.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand/walk frequently, and perform tasks that involve close eye work.

  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of hematology, laboratory testing procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Quality Assurance: Understanding of quality control and assurance principles and company-specific program requirements.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to manage and guide laboratory staff while maintaining strong team cohesion.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: The base pay range is $77,700 - $129,500 (annualized). Actual compensation may vary based on qualifications and location.
