Job Summary:
The Associate Director will provide operational and functional leadership for client accounts in a high-end Medical Communications business. This role involves ensuring client satisfaction through effective team management, workflow optimization, quality control, and cross-functional collaboration. You will oversee the delivery of high-quality scientific content for global biopharma clients, manage key business metrics, and contribute to the growth and strategic direction of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Scientific Services (Delivery):

    • Lead a global team of Principal Scientific Writers and Senior Medical Writers to deliver high-quality scientific content, ensuring adherence to quality, timelines, and efficiency.

    • Maintain efficient working relations with all internal and external key stakeholders.

    • Identify strategic project priorities and work closely with cross-functional teams to execute them.

  • Operations Management:

    • Provide operational expertise, process improvements, and day-to-day project support.

    • Monitor project progress, forecasting, and operations, collaborating with the PM and client servicing teams.

    • Lead project prioritization, workload distribution, and resource planning to optimize capacity utilization and quality.

  • Client Delivery and Stakeholder Management:

    • Understand client expectations and communicate them to the team.

    • Build strong relationships with key client stakeholders and participate in governance meetings.

    • Manage client expectations, ensuring agile workflows that adapt to evolving needs.

  • Business Growth and Strategic Inputs:

    • Collaborate with senior leaders to execute the Medical Affairs vision and organic growth planning.

    • Manage key business drivers, including recruitment, training, and business account planning.

  • Leadership and Team Management:

    • Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse, global team, fostering a high-performance work environment.

    • Drive goal achievement, manage team performance, and ensure alignment with company objectives.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:

    • 10+ years of core scientific writing experience, preferably in an operations role within the medical communications industry or an agency setting.

    • 5+ years of experience in leading and managing a global team.

  • Skills:

    • Strong understanding of science, decision-making, and influencing skills.

    • Excellent communication skills to manage internal and external stakeholder expectations.

    • Strong problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and attention to detail.

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage complex situations.
