Role Overview

Position: Clinical Medical Data Coder

Key Responsibilities

  • Coding and Data Management: Perform clinical medical data coding tasks for assigned projects under supervision. Assist with all coding aspects throughout project phases, including start-up, maintenance, and completion activities.
  • Technical Support: Collaborate with the technical service group to enhance personal career development and interpersonal skills. Aid in achieving competency standards.
  • Plan Review: Assist in reviewing Data Management Plans, particularly sections relevant to coding, and study-specific dictionary coding conventions and specifications under the guidance of senior coding specialists.
  • Data Handling: Learn and understand data management processes to ensure consistent and high-quality handling of coded clinical data. Familiarize yourself with the development and implementation of global SOPs and Work Instructions.
  • Client Satisfaction: Contribute to achieving client satisfaction by delivering medical coded data on time and within budget. Support local project staff in ensuring high-quality data delivery.
  • Process Improvement: Provide input and solutions for improving processes and efficiency on assigned projects. Stay updated on literature and research technologies to enhance global thesaurus management practices.
  • Training and Development: Maintain technical competencies through participation in internal and external training seminars. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Education: University/college degree in life sciences, health sciences, information technology, or related fields, or a certification in allied health professions from an accredited institution. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant work experience in data management. Basic knowledge of medical coding processes and tools (e.g., Medidata Coder, Central Coding). Familiarity with clinical trial processes and regulatory obligations in the CRO industry.
  • Skills: Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills. Demonstrated interpersonal skills and a basic understanding of coding tools and clinical trial data management.
