About the Role
LabCorp is looking for an Associate Chemist to join our Toxicology team in Burlington, NC. This role offers the opportunity to work with various analytical instruments, including GC, GC/MS, HPLC, ICP/MS, and LC/MS/MS. As part of the LC/MS Data Review/Operator Section, you will be responsible for reviewing and certifying LC/MS data, troubleshooting and repairing instruments as needed, and performing routine and complex technical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and certify LC/MS data from instruments utilizing Analyst and Ascent software.

  • Verify calibration, quality controls, and patient data up to and including result entry.

  • Perform minor troubleshooting/repair and instrument preparation of LC/MS systems.

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses on organic and inorganic samples.

  • Participate in the development of new analytical procedures.

  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures per departmental SOPs.

  • Evaluate raw and final data for accuracy and correct errors or unusual results.

  • Provide guidance to technical staff regarding analysis and interpretation of results.

  • Assist with the training and orientation of new employees.

  • Perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

  • Replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or a related science.

  • Minimum 2+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience.

  • Experience with Chromatographic Data Review preferred, but not required.

  • Strong technical proficiency and scientific knowledge in clinical testing.

  • Proficiency with computers and familiarity with laboratory information systems.

  • High attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team.

  • Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.

  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Work Schedule

  • 2nd shift, Tuesday-Saturday, 4:00pm-12:30am (with flexibility in hours).

  • Eligible for 10% shift differential due to 2nd shift hours.
