Associate Chemist - LC/MS Data Review/Operator
Location: Burlington, NC
Shift: 2nd Shift, Tuesday-Saturday, 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM (eligible for 10% shift differential)

Labcorp is seeking an experienced Associate Chemist to join our Toxicology Department in Burlington, NC. This position offers a challenging and fast-paced environment with exposure to a variety of analytical instrumentation, including GC, HPLC, ICP/MS, and LC/MS/MS. Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and Certify LC/MS Data: Utilize Analyst and Ascent software to review and certify LC/MS data, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
  • Calibration & Quality Control: Verify calibration, quality controls, and patient data; upload results into the system.
  • Minor Troubleshooting and Instrument Prep: Perform minor troubleshooting and routine maintenance on LC/MS systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct Analytical Testing: Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses on organic and inorganic samples.
  • Technical Decision Making: Evaluate raw and final data, identify errors, and make decisions to correct or resolve issues.
  • Training and Mentorship: Assist with training and orienting new staff on procedures and techniques.
  • Preventive Maintenance: Document and perform preventive maintenance and quality control procedures to maintain equipment and ensure data reliability.

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or a related science.
  • Experience: At least 2+ years of clinical laboratory testing experience.
  • Skills:
    • Knowledge of chromatographic data review (preferred but not required).
    • Strong technical proficiency and understanding of laboratory functions.
    • Proficiency with computers and laboratory information systems.
    • High attention to detail, strong communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
    • Must pass a standardized color vision screen.
    • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed.
