About the Role
Labcorp is seeking an experienced Associate Chemist to join its Mass Spectrometry team in Burlington, NC. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Labcorp’s mission of improving health and lives while working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. This position involves working 3rd shift (Thursday-Sunday, 10:00 PM - 8:30 AM) with a 15% shift differential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and certify LC/MS data using Analyst and Ascent software.

  • Evaluate data for acceptability and upload results accordingly.

  • Verify calibration, quality controls, and patient data up to and including result entry.

  • Perform minor troubleshooting, repairs, and instrument preparation for LC/MS systems.

  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis of organic and inorganic samples to determine chemical properties.

  • Participate in the development of new analytical procedures.

  • Follow departmental Standard Operating Procedures for routine and complex technical procedures.

  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving.

  • Identify and correct errors or unusual results in raw and final data.

  • Provide guidance to technical staff regarding analysis and interpretation of results.

  • Assist with the training and orientation of new employees.

  • Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.

  • Ensure adequate replenishment of testing bench supplies.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology (or meet regulatory requirements).

  • At least 2 years of clinical laboratory testing experience.

  • Experience with Chromatographic Data Review preferred, but not required.

  • Proficient in laboratory information systems and computers.

  • High attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Must pass a standardized color vision screen.

  • Flexibility to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs.
