Job Title: Medical Affairs Specialist


Role Summary

The Medical Affairs Specialist provides scientific expertise and builds relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to advance medical practice and research, enhancing Pfizer's image in the scientific community. The role involves high-quality service in interactions with healthcare professionals (HCPs), continuing medical education (CME), clinical research, sales force training, and supporting business activities in new product development, regulatory affairs, and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

Strategic and Policy Support

  • Provide tactical and strategic inputs to product management for ethical promotion of assigned products, contributing to product development and marketing strategies.
  • Collaborate with the mentor or line manager to ensure all policies and activities are scientifically and ethically sound.

Operational Responsibilities

  • Key Opinion Leader (KOL) Engagement

    • Identify and establish relationships with KOLs and organizations in the therapeutic area.
    • Collaborate with medical affairs colleagues to develop and customize presentations tailored to regional needs.
    • Support KOLs in their clinical and research activities through relevant programs and research projects.
    • Facilitate customized promotional/educational interactions such as launch meetings, advisory boards, CME programs, and scientific symposia.
    • Focus on advancing KOLs through various stages: Initiate, Develop, Partner, and Impact.
  • Clinical Research Support

    • Identify new investigators and institutions for clinical research to expand the research base.
    • Provide medical support for local clinical studies, including visits to study sites.
    • Assist in reviewing and interpreting study data and writing final reports for locally sponsored studies.
    • Develop and execute a publication plan and contribute to writing manuscripts for publication.
    • Execute an information dissemination plan/program for research findings.
  • Medical Initiatives and Support

    • Participate in KOL meetings, advisory boards, and customer launch meetings.
    • Conduct roundtable discussions and group meetings to support the therapeutic area and product development.
    • Lead and facilitate CME programs as a speaker or moderator, in coordination with the medical advisor.
  • Medical Information

    • Provide accurate and balanced medical information to internal teams (e.g., sales staff) and external stakeholders (e.g., HCPs).
    • Ensure adherence to relevant SOPs and policies in all communications.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Educational Background:

    • Degree in a scientific field (e.g., MD, PharmD, PhD, or equivalent).
    • Strong scientific and medical knowledge in the relevant therapeutic area.
  • Experience and Competencies:

    • Previous experience in medical affairs, clinical research, or related roles.
    • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with KOLs and HCPs.
    • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams and in a matrixed environment.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Familiarity with clinical data interpretation and publication processes.
    • Knowledge of medical information systems and SOPs.
