This position is based in In Vivo Sciences, a key part of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS). In Vivo Sciences supports state-of-the-art animal experimentation in Pharmacology, PK/PD, and Toxicology and plays a critical role in the Animal Care and Use Program within pRED, enabling all in vivo studies.


The Opportunity:
We are looking for a highly motivated Animal Caretaker in Laboratory Animal Science to join our team. This role involves providing expert care and support for rodents and rabbits. You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards in animal housing and husbandry, including tasks like cage changing, feeding, and administering water. You will also conduct routine health checks, monitor treatments, and assess animals for pain or distress, especially for Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs).

In addition, you will ensure cleanliness and hygiene in animal housing and laboratory areas, manage consumables and materials, and document and analyze all daily checks, sanitation measures, environmental parameters, and scientific data.


Who You Are:

  • You hold a professional qualification in Laboratory Animal Care (EFZ, BSc, or equivalent) and have experience with routine techniques in animal research.
  • You are knowledgeable about state-of-the-art housing and caging technologies, such as Barrier Housing and Individually Ventilated Caging Systems (IVCs), as well as the 3Rs principles (Replacement, Reduction, and Refinement of animal use).
  • You are familiar with electronic data systems for monitoring animal husbandry and routine office software.
  • You are resourceful, self-organized, and flexible in problem-solving, with a collaborative and inclusive working approach.
  • You have strong communication skills in English and German (fluent).
