Job Title: Manager, Medical Communications and Content Solutions, Category Team


Role Summary

The Manager, Medical Communications and Content Solutions, within the Global Medical Communications and Content Solutions (MCCS) team, is responsible for creating and executing global medical content for oncology. This includes developing abstracts, manuscripts, congress posters/presentations, graphical abstracts, systematic literature reviews, plain language summaries, slide decks, medical education resources, social media content, infographics, videos, and other types of external-facing medical content.


Key Responsibilities

  • Medical Content Development:

    • Lead the creation of various medical content types, including abstracts, manuscripts, congress posters/presentations, graphical abstracts, systematic literature reviews, plain language summaries, slide decks, medical education resources, social media, infographics, and videos.
    • Develop drafts by researching, organizing, compiling, interpreting, and performing quality checks on various technical/medical information.
    • Ensure all medical content is accurate, objective, and adheres to quality control standards.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including medical communications, scientific publication committees, congress working teams, digital content teams, and generative AI working groups.
    • Work with authors and teams to develop solutions for assigned projects (e.g., graphics, compliance, statistics, and generative AI teams).
  • Project Management:

    • Oversee and manage the end-to-end development of medical content across assigned therapeutic areas/medicines.
    • Track the progress of all assigned projects, resolve issues with guidance from the Team Lead, and ensure the timely delivery of projects while meeting all quality and compliance requirements.
  • Training and Knowledge Transfer:

    • Provide training on relevant tools and processes, including new generative AI platforms, to ensure efficient and compliant execution of all medical content.
    • Stay updated on emerging trends in medical content generation to ensure industry best practices are adopted.
    • Develop expertise in industry-leading tools/skills for content creation and facilitate knowledge transfer with the broader MCCS team.
  • Content Accuracy and Compliance:

    • Perform accuracy reviews and data quality control for all medical content to ensure objective and accurate representation of data.
    • Ensure that all medical content adheres to relevant compliance and quality standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • Education:

    • Advanced scientific doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, PharmD, MBBS/MD, MSc, MPH, MPharm).
  • Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in writing/developing medical content for the pharmaceutical industry, academic settings, CROs, or biotech companies.
    • Proven ability to lead and execute projects end-to-end, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Skills:

    • Strong scientific writing skills with the ability to interpret and summarize complex data concisely and persuasively.
    • Ability to build rapport and credibility with authors and external stakeholders across cultures/regions.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    • Strong understanding of statistical and epidemiologic principles used in medical research.
    • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills, adaptable to various settings.
  • Technology Skills:

    • Familiarity with software commonly used to present and analyze data (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
    • Understanding of technology applications in medical content development.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience creating and developing medical content in oncology.
  • Expertise in assigned therapeutic areas.
  • ISMPP-CMPP® certification.
  • Experience with multimedia and omnichannel content creation.
  • Rapid adoption of new digital content, technology, and resources.
  • Prior global exposure in professional/educational settings.
